Your Role in Group Dynamics
We’re in Michigan for the week, visiting with family and relaxing a bit Up North. But it’s family. Two families (both Evan’s and mine). Which means there are lots of group dynamics to navigate. Plans to make. Dinners to arrange. Dogs to look after.
It’s fascinating to see how it all gets negotiated and worked out. When it comes to family, I tend to hang back and let the collective make the decisions. Which means that I don’t always get what I want. And other people don’t get their way either. Feelings can get hurt and things that don’t seem like a big deal to you might have a huge impact on someone else. Not that I have the answers, but for me the main thing is to keep your eyes and ears open and tread lightly.
