What’s in a name? Ambeti!
If you’re curious, Ambeti is a family company. My dad and uncle started it when I was a kid and named it after my sister (Amy), cousin (Beth) and I (Tina). My dad was always looking for a get-rich scheme — including Beanie Babies and Amway. This was his only full-fledged attempt, working closely with my uncle to develop, fabricate and sell Flash Alert, an alarm system that would make a prominent light on the outside of your house flash when the alarm system was switched to let the police know which house’s alarm was going off from a distance.
They filed a patent. They went to trade shows. They had my sister and I using a drill press to fabricate units in trade for Barbies. I’m guessing that there are still units in the basement of my Uncle Ed’s home.
But for me, Ambeti is decidedly NOT a get-rich scheme. It’s thoughtful, methodical and intentional. I don’t think it will involve a drill press.
